ANSCR
The Alpha-Numeric System for Classification of Recordings (ANSCR) is composed of categories into which all sound recordings are organized. This system is used by the Audio Visual Department at the Main Library, Arlington Branch and the Bookmobile.
Media
- DVDs – alphabetical by title in its genre: Adventure, Action, Comedy, Drama etc.
Non-fiction is in Dewey order with the call number on the spine. Example: - Compact discs – These are listed by ANSCR categories. The “ANSCR Classification Scheme” is listed below. Example: CD-1 MC GILL LOVE is Vince Gill's "Love Songs" which is filed in the Country category in the music CD section.
- Audio books This folder is arranged by genre, author and title. Non-fiction is in Dewey order with the call number on the spine.
- Digital Downloads We have the “Overdrive” digital download collection online. This includes iPod compatible audiobooks, MP3 audiobooks, Sony Reader-compatible eBooks and classical music.
- CDROM--non-fiction Dewey order with the call number on the spine.
