Moved into new quarters and began offering additional facilities to patrons. The branch moved into a newly decorated room beside the former location on East Liberty Street, directly back of the old bank building. The hours were: 6:00-8:00p.m. on Wednesdays and from 2:00-5:00p.m. on Saturdays. The building housed over 2000 volumes.
September 9, 1976
Arlington Branch library opened at a new location in the old post office building at 114 E. Liberty St. The open hours were 1:00-5:30p.m on Mondays and Wednesdays. The new location housed about 7,000 books. The building was rented “for a nominal amount”.
October 28, 1983
The branch was moving to larger quarters and with the change came increased hours. The library moved from East Liberty Street to a larger building at 232 North Main Street. The building once was a grocery store and then a flower shop. The new facility was purchased for $20,000, with $18,000 of the funding coming from donations. The branch held nearly 12,000 volumes.
August 15, 1985
A renovation project on the west half of the branch library included connecting the garage with the main building to create a community room. The project cost $73,500 and was dedicated on August 30th. The older section of the library was renovated including floor, ceiling and window repairs and waterproofing. The cost of this project was $10,000.
May 31, 2008
The west half of the branch library had its roof lifted off by a tornado that passed through the village during the night. The room was being used to process the SEO materials being received and sent out by U.S. Cargo at that time. None of the library collection was damaged. The room had to be demolished, it was declared a total loss.
