Books
Children's Services houses materials for children in many formats. The materials in the Library are intended for children ages 0-12 and include a juvenile non-fiction section on a broad variety of subjects, a separate collection of biographies, board books for the very young, a large picture book collection for pre-readers, “readers” for developing new readers, and longer “chapter” books for grade-school aged kids. Audio/Visual Materials
DVD, books on compact disc, bookpacks (picture books accompanied by an audio of the text), CDs of music for kids, computer software, and juvenile magazines.

Services for Children, Parents and Teachers
The Children's Library has a staff who work the busy desk, plan and execute programs, and maintain the collection. The staff  are specialists available to help the public in a variety of ways including research, homework help, book recommendations, and general library information.


Children's Events
In addition to educating young customers through a strong collection and great services, the Children’s Library hopes to entertain and inspire them through a variety of programs including storytimes, crafts, read-alouds, and family programs.

Accelerated Reader Link
Looking for information on the Accelerated Reading List being used by the Hancock County Schools? Many of the books on the list are in our collection. Parents and children can view the website here. You can search for book titles based on authors, topics, or titles of books. Just type what you want to search for in the blank field above and click Go. You will then be able to sort your search results, select book titles to add to your AR BookBag, print a list of your search results, or start a new search. Please ask if you have questions.

There are three educational gaming computers in Childrens, as well as the
