Adult Test Proctoring

The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library (FHCPL) offers test proctoring to empower individuals of all ages and backgrounds to build a more informed, engaged, and connected community.

Scope

These guidelines apply to paper or digital exams required to meet patrons’ educational and/or career needs.

Please note that FHCPL may not be able to accommodate all proctoring needs and requirements. It is the test-taker’s responsibility to verify that the proctoring conditions provided by FHCPL meet all requirements of the institution administering the exam. Test-takers whose needs cannot be accommodated at FHCPL may wish to inquire about proctoring services offered at Owens’s Testing Services Center or at the University of Findlay Testing Center.

Requirements

     The test-taker must:

  • Contact the FHCPL information desk at least one week in advance to arrange for a proctor to be available on the specified date/time. Test proctoring is only available during regular library hours at the main branch and must conclude at least 30 minutes before the library closes
  • Confirm that test materials have been received by FHCPL before the assigned testing time. If the test is online, the test-taker is also responsible for making sure the library has received login instructions, passwords, URLs, etc. from the testing institution
  • Arrive at the scheduled proctoring time or cancel at least 1 hour in advance
  • Bring photo I.D. and all needed test-taking supplies (such as pens, pencils, calculators, etc.)

FHCPL staff may store these and other personal belongings at the information desk during testing, but is not responsible for lost or stolen items
  • Contact the testing institution to confirm that the completed test was received

The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library will:

  • Receive testing materials and/or instructions via email (please note that all testing materials received through email become a part of Ohio public record)
  • Provide a table and/or computer for taking paper or digital tests (please note that there will be some degree of noise/activity in the public area of the library where test proctoring takes place)
  • Make every attempt to observe that the student is following the guidelines set forth by the testing institution
  • Return completed test materials via email as soon as possible after the test is completed

The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library will not:

  • Accommodate requests for unscheduled or “drop-in” proctoring
  • Provide a sound-proof or private/secluded test-taking area
  • Contact the testing institution about procedural questions such as invalid password, wrong tests, etc. or answer questions related to the content of any test
  • Guarantee that the correct materials have been received by the testing institution by a specific deadline (though they will strive to reach those deadlines whenever possible)
  • Download software for test taking or make technological modifications that are not compatible with our technology
  • Guarantee that technical problems/Wi-Fi interruptions will not occur while using FHCPL’s computers or Wi-Fi
  • Provide uninterrupted/continuous supervision during testing (though proctors will check on the test-taker periodically and monitor them as they are able)
  • Assume responsibility for completed tests that are not received by the testing institution (FHCPL will retain paper copies of completed tests for 1 week unless otherwise specified by the testing institution in order to resubmit if needed)
